Great AI Tools for Keyword Research
Generative AI can be really helpful for keyword research and discovery. Here's how 👇
AI technology provides a lot of content analysis opportunities allowing SEOs to improve and optimize existing copy as well as keyword discovery and research.
While traditional keyword research tools extend your core term by providing a list of long-tail queries, AI-powered tools allow SEOs to discuss closely related queries that may or may not include your core term but have the same searcher intent.

The thing is, people may be researching their problems and finding answer differently than you may think. They may not be using your core term because they simply don’t know this concept or solution exists.
For example, instead of “loans” people may be searching “where can I borrow money”...
This is where AI can be really helpful.
The following AI tools are particularly useful for discovering new keywords allowing you to expand new keywords you may not be aware of.
1. ChatGPT / Gemini / Claude
Conversing with your favorite generative AI platform can lead to some cool keyword ideas you never thought before. Some possible queries could be:
“If I were looking for XX, what would I search for in Google”
“My target keyword is XX. Generate keyword ideas which my target audience would use. Exclude XX from keyword suggestions”
“My main keyword is XX. Generate keyword ideas for content strategy that would target top of the funnel.”
You can also include this part in any prompt:
“Return keyword suggestions in a table format with the following columns: Keyword, search intent, target audience.”
2. SEO.AI
SEO.AI offers a free public keyword research tool that uses AI to generate relevant keyword suggestions.
3. Junia
Junia offers free AI-powered research and compliments it with useful data (competition, CPC, and competition) which it pulls from Google Keyword Planner.
4. Optimo
Optimo Keyword Research tool doesn’t offer any additional data, beyond the list of keyword ideas, but I found it very helpful for discovering new keywords that don’t include my initial term.
5. Ryan Robinson
An AI keyword research tool by Ryan Robinson offers quite a few options to find content ideas and discover new keywords. The “Explore” tab suggests keywords based on your core term, including “difficulty” and search volume (there’s no information on how “difficulty” is calculated)
6. VidIQ
VidIQ has keyword research tool for Youtube search. Every keyword suggestion on the list has a search volume that indicates its popularity on Youtube. I am not sure how it is calculated (the documentation doesn’t provide much insight)
7. Low Difficulty
This keyword research tool provides keyword ideas and ranks them based on how easy it is going to be to rank your page for any of them. Again, there’s no insight into how the “Difficulty” metric is calculated, so you may want to check other tools to verify it. The tool also includes search volume and CPC metric for each keyword.
Overall, the AI tools did provide some overlapping keyword suggestions but most of them pulled original ideas, so it is wise to consult several of them when researching your keywords.
8. TermSniper
TermSniper is a search intent analysis tool that also provides actionable tips on how to better optimize your content to better match that intent. Type any keyword and the tool will run the full analysis which costs 1 credit.
The tool pulls keywords that can help you better match the identified search intent.
The related keywords are scored 1-100 depending on how many high-ranking pages include them in their page copy and meta tags. The tool recommends adding words scored 20 to 100 into your meta title, H1, and first paragraph. Words scored 1 to 19 should be naturally added throughout the rest of your page.

AI or Artificial Intelligence is strange concept that confuses many issues and hides behind thought barriers constructed by yourself.
One does need to think twice about these issues
The way you create your prompts for AI is very important and needs careful planning and some insights of your Aims, Intentions, purpose and Objectives. Knowing your end goal and having your end point documented is helpful.
These days EEAT or Experience Expertise Authority and Trust is a very powerful SEOVI (Search Engine Optimization Value Indicator) and content intent needs to be a key issue when determining keywords and concepts that need to be reflected in the content that you make available to your online audience.
